Brochure · EN — 9-page Siemens Energy Grid Technologies slide presentation (16:9, 2025) on service for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS): the service value proposition (extensive experience with grid connected systems, remote & field service support by world class digital asset management systems, customer revenue first mindset, international footprint, continuous service performance controlling, global environmental/safety approach, higher bankability through performance guarantees, in-house technician training), five global service packages (availability guarantees, energy & power capacity guarantees, maintenance, spare parts, system monitoring), the BESS Diagnostic Services (BDS) platform with its cloud / on-premise architecture (BDS Cloud, secure cRSP landing zone, Omnivise Edge Server, T3000 subsystem controllers, Modbus Cache IPC) and web application (KPI dashboards, alarm handling, reporting, benchmarking, supervision of critical systems), typical service activities across a 0+ to 40+ year lifecycle (warranty, warranty extension, capacity augmentation, modernization & retrofit of control & protection system, decommissioning / battery recycling / repowering, modernization & retrofit of complete BESS), a 2025 hybrid grid-stabilization reference project at Shannonbridge, Ireland (Power Conversion System 83.6 MVA, battery system 180 MWh nameplate, Energy Management System, synchronous condenser with flywheel), and the world-class-service pillars (one face to the customer from cell to High Voltage POI, comprehensive LTSA, technical culture, bankability, existing regional service footprint). The document contains no product ratings table — it is a service-scope presentation, not a datasheet.
The presentation opens the service value proposition with eight pillars (slide 2, verbatim): extensive experience — grid connected systems; remote & field service support by world class digital asset management systems; customer revenue first mindset; international footprint and multicultural spirit; continuous service performance controlling and state-of-art benchmarking; global approach with environmental, safety and service features; higher bankability through solid and reliable performance guarantees; and maximum asset protection with top class in-house technician training.
The same slide places BESS service in the context of "Connecting the future — Siemens Energy's modular grid system for data centers": a Siemens Energy Service scope diagram showing a gas-insulated or air-insulated substation, HV transformer, MV switchgear, distribution transformer, E-STATCOM and battery storage feeding a connected data center.
Five global service packages "ensure optimal profitability of your battery storage system throughout the lifetime of the plant" (slide 3). The packages and their promises are transcribed verbatim in the table below. The slide's companion graphic shows a continuous-improvement circle of maintenance contract and obsolescence management around the statement: "Siemens Energy ensures a reliable energy storage system based on continuous improvement."
| # | Package | Promise (verbatim) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Availability guarantees | Your battery energy storage system available when you need it – no surprises! |
| 2 | Energy & power capacity guarantees | The flexibility you need to run your energy asset with the certainty to have the energy capacity many years from now |
| 3 | Maintenance | Quick and planned outages to keep the equipment operating when you need it |
| 4 | Spare parts | Access to critical parts to keep your plant operating with this quickly evolving technology |
| 5 | System monitoring | Asset Management starts with monitoring and analytics – managing critical data and the analysis needed to deliver valuable insights and take the right action at the right time |
BESS Diagnostic Services' Insights "provides valuable information on key safety, health, performance, availability, and reliability indicators" (slide 4). Capabilities listed: advanced data acquisition, calculations & analysis; visualization of battery energy storage data & KPIs; user-friendly, intuitive web application; and descriptive & predictive analytics for customers & key account managers.
An architecture diagram on the same slide shows the data path: at plant level, the BESS connects through a Modbus Cache IPC and the DCS (T3000 subsystem controllers) to the BDS on-premise layer built on an Omnivise Edge Server; from there, a secure cRSP landing zone links to the BDS Cloud, where data processing feeds the BDS Web App and data analytics.
The BESS Diagnostic Services Web Application (slide 5) provides: dashboards with KPIs and state of health metrics; alarm & notification handling; reporting functionality; benchmarking functions (e.g., across blocks); supervision of critical systems; and reduced cyber risks with CRSP connection. The slide shows a screenshot of the Battery Diagnostic Services dashboard with notifications, operating conditions, ambient conditions, and charging/discharging energy views (the on-screen values are illustrative sample data, not product ratings).
The application's focus is summarized as asset protection & equipment integrity: "Focus is on prevention of unplanned events/equipment damage leading to increased maintenance cost and/or loss of generation."
Slide 6 lays out typical BESS service activities on a timeline from commissioning to beyond 40 years, transcribed verbatim in the table below. Activities offered throughout the lifecycle: 24/7 Expert Hotline; BESS Diagnostic Services (BDS); remote monitoring and operation; preventive & corrective maintenance; Spare Parts Management; performance guarantee; service programs (Long-Term Program); trainings program; obsolescence management; performance test; DC/AC augmentation; and asset improvement.
| Milestone | Service activities (verbatim) |
|---|---|
| 0+ years | Warranty; maintenance contracts |
| 2+ years | After warranty; warranty extension |
| 10+ years | Capacity augmentation |
| 15+ years | Modernization & retrofit of control & protection system |
| 20+ years | Decommissioning, battery recycling, repowering |
| 40+ years | Modernization & retrofit of complete BESS; disposal |
